Point to Point Transport Commissioner, Anthony Wing, and members of his regionally based team recently visited Orange to meet with local service providers, drivers and industry stakeholders to continue building positive working relationships in the local and surrounding areas.

During his visit the Commissioner hosted an Industry Information Session that was well attended by taxi, hire vehicle and tourist operators from Orange and surrounding areas.  The information session was also an opportunity for the Commissioner and his staff to talk to local service providers.

“Hearing directly from the service providers during this visit has helped to give us a better understanding of the local conditions in the point to point transport industry in Orange and surrounding areas. This knowledge helps me and my team work more effectively with service provider and ensure even safer services in the area.”

In addition to this session, a driver pop up was open for drivers in Robertson Park, to talk with staff and collect complimentary Driver Sanitisation Kits. These kits include masks, hand sanitiser and Rapid Antigen Tests. The Commissioner’s team were pleased to see local drivers committed to COVID safe passenger services.

The Commissioner also met with representatives from Orange Police and Orange City Council to discuss how to best work together to support the industry and hear their perspective on local point to point transport matters
Feedback from the Industry in Orange was overwhelmingly positive regarding the Commissioner’s visit.  Dean Brus, owner of Orange Limousines, was one of the Industry Information Session attendees.

“It was certainly appreciated that the Commissioner took the time to visit the region and was available to take questions from the floor”.

Other service providers said they were pleased to be able to meet the Point to Point Transport Commission team members that are based in the region face to face.

The Commission has 14 staff based in three regional locations, Dubbo, Grafton and Wagga Wagga, that regularly travel around regional NSW.

“I always enjoy visiting regional NSW and getting a chance to speak to our service providers in person.  The Orange region is a beautiful area with much to offer and it is great to see the point to point transport industry doing well and providing safe services” finished Anthony Wing.

Anthony Wing’s next Industry Information Session will take place in Wagga Wagga 29 September.
