Does your taxi have a compliant security camera system?

Published

As of 1 February 2021 all taxis providing rank and hail passenger services must have a security camera system that complies with legislation. Any taxi with a security camera system that doesn’t comply with the approved specifications must not provide rank and hail passenger services.

One of the Commissioner’s strategic priorities is targeted compliance, so our Authorised Officers will be checking that taxis providing rank and hail services are fitted with approved security camera systems that are functioning correctly. Authorised Officers will be issuing warnings and fines for vehicles with non-compliant security cameras.

A working and compliant security camera system is essential in supporting the safety of drivers and passengers. Safety is the Commissioner’s top priority.
