Industry update on severe weather conditions in NSW

Published

With heavy rainfall and winds continuing across parts of NSW, severe weather and flood warnings are in place and likely to remain throughout the week for areas of Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and the Lower Hunter, extending to Ulladulla on the South Coast.

With the point to point transport industry continuing to provide passenger services, it’s essential that service providers communicate the hazards of the current situation.

Driver safety advice

Service providers should keep drivers well informed of preventative safety measures they should take while on the roads.

Drivers should stay on alert for debris and fallen tree branches, reduce speed, drive carefully, and increase visibility by switching on your headlights. Under no circumstance should drivers attempt travelling through a flooded road. They must also follow instructions by emergency workers and local traffic crew.

All drivers should plan ahead before leaving their homes and check which roads are impacted by visiting livetraffic.com.

Drivers must also be reminded to check their vehicles to ensure they are roadworthy before providing passenger services. Please note that excess rain may affect light globes in vehicles, however, all areas of the vehicle must be thoroughly checked and in good working order.

We will continue to update the industry as further advice becomes available. In the meantime, please stay up to date by regularly checking livetraffic.com.
