Point to Point Transport Commissioner establishes permanent presence in regional NSW

Published

In June this year, the NSW Government announced a package of reforms in response to the independent review of the point to point transport industry led by Sue Baker-Finch in 2020. As a part of the reforms funding has been provided to the Commissioner to establish 12 new compliance roles in Regional NSW to ensure a permanent point to point transport presence in regional areas. The new roles will be based out of Wagga Wagga, Dubbo, and Northern NSW and represent a significant milestone in the NSW Government point to point reforms.

The proposed reforms do not alter current safety obligations for service providers.

The Point to Point Transport Commissioner has always had a compliance presence in the regions but the addition of permanent roles based in regional centres is significant in supporting safety in rural and regional areas for current as well as new service providers.

The Commissioner will also be adding education and service delivery roles based in Dubbo as a part of the expansion.

Recruitment has commenced for a number of these roles and the Commission will continue to keep you updated.
