Point to point transport the winner at the US vs Australia Matilda’s game

With over 36,000 spectators watching the Matildas play the US at Stadium Australia on Saturday 27, point to point transport was in demand.

Authorised Officers from the Commission were at Olympic Park to ensure taxis and hire vehicles (including rideshare) were providing safe and compliant passenger services.

Overall, compliance was good; however, two drivers were unable to display their Driver IDs as both taxis did not have a device fitted. It is a specified safety standard for a Taxi Service Provider (TSP) to ensure that all taxis have a device fitted for displaying Driver IDs . As a result, Authorised Officers are following up with the TSP and the TSP may be issued with a penalty notice.

This a timely reminder of safety obligations regarding Driver IDs in taxis and the displaying of retroreflective signs on hire vehicles, as starting 6 December the Commissioner’s Compliance team will be conducting a week long safety blitz to ensure all drivers (and service providers) are complying with these safety standards.
