Welcome to our first Weekly Wrap for 2025!

Our on-street inspectors kicked off 2025 with a bang after conducting both plain clothes and highly visible operations throughout the holiday season. You can read our holiday period wrap up below.

They also conducted compliance activities at the Australia v India Test, continuing to ensure safe passenger services across the state.

Across the week 30 Dec – 5 January:

  • 21 breaches were identified

  • 8 Improvement Notices were issued

  • 1 Prohibition Notice was issued

  • 2 alleged ineligible drivers are under review

Howzat! Australia v India Cricket Test – Moore Park

On 3 – 5 January, the India vs Australia Test Match took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Moore Park. Huge crowds attended the test across the 3 days of play with 141,000 people watching Australia win not only the match but the series.

While many attendees used public transport to get to and from the cricket ground, point to point transport was still in high demand.

Over the three days, 41 taxis and 91 rideshare vehicles were inspected, with compliance across taxis and rideshare reported as generally good.

  • 9 fines were issued to rideshare drivers for failing to display a retroreflective sign

  • 1 prohibition notice was issued to a driver for having worn tyres on their vehicle

Learn more about the dangers of providing passenger services with worn tyres in this Safety alert.

The 2024/25 holiday period

Our on-street inspectors were busy across the holiday period completing almost 700 plain clothes trips during a summer period blitz along with their usual highly visible presence.
