Can historic vehicles be used to provide passenger services?

Yes, service providers are able to use vehicles with 12 seats or less, including the driver, that are registered under the Historic Vehicle Scheme (HVS) and/or Classic Vehicle Scheme (CVS) to provide a passenger service for a fare.

All service providers in NSW must be authorised under the point to point transport legislation. Once authorised you are responsible for ensuring your business operates legally under the point to point transport law and complies with all conditions of authorisation.

The historic and/or classic vehicle in use must also satisfy all conditions of vehicle authorisation as outlined by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS). Vehicles registered under the HVS and CVS fall under the wider Conditional Registration Scheme.
