The Transport Minister, Jo Haylen, has announced that Anthony Wing has been reappointed as the Point to Point Transport Commissioner for another five years, until June 2029.
Anthony was first appointed Commissioner in July 2019 overseeing one of the largest passenger transport modes in NSW, with currently more than 70 million point to point transport trips a year and more than 100,000 workers across taxis, hire vehicles and rideshare serving two million customers annually.
In the last five years, Anthony has worked with industry members including peak bodies, community and disability groups to improve safety in NSW for passengers, drivers and service providers. He introduced more sophisticated safety audits of global, national and local service providers, expanded on-street operations, and transitioned the taxi industry to a new licensing framework.
Throughout the pandemic Anthony supported industry, eased pressure on service providers and ensured safe services remained available for those who needed them. He addressed a shortage of passenger services by making it easier to get taxis on the road and amending driver eligibility requirements.
With safety as his priority, Anthony will continue to hold all parts of industry to account for their safety and administrative obligations, and to make it easier for service providers to run their businesses safety.
