Mardi Gras 2021

Published

Due to Coronavirus restrictions, the 2021 Sydney Mardi Gras is being held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday 6 March at Moore Park. As a result, roads around the Sydney CBD and Oxford Street will not be closed this year.

This event is likely to draw over 30,000 patrons, and in addition to recently eased Coronavirus restrictions in NSW, a high level of pedestrian and traffic is expected.

Point to point transport drivers are encouraged to drop passengers off on the northern end of Driver Avenue only - entry from Moore Park Road.

Driver Avenue will be closed at Lang Road from 12pm until 11.30pm for the duration of the event.

There is a dedicated taxi rank on Errol Flynn Boulevard off Lang Rd for those using taxi services.

Alternatively, as traffic delays are expected, drivers and passengers are encouraged to use surrounding local streets for safe set downs and pick-ups before and after the event and continue on-foot.

Point to point transport drivers are advised to drive to the conditions, allow extra travel time, and follow the directions of signs, NSW Police and traffic control.

The current Public Health Order on masks requires both drivers and passengers to wear a face masks during a passenger service. Fines apply for non-compliance.
