Published

13 - 19 January 2025

Our on-street inspectors continue to conduct both plain clothes and highly visible operations throughout the state.

They also conducted compliance activities at the Big Bash Cricket, continuing to ensure safe passenger services.

Across the week 13 - 19 Jan:

  • 21 breaches were identified

  • 25 Improvement Notices were issued

  • 2 alleged ineligible drivers are under review

Big Bash Cricket – Moore Park

On 17 January, Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Moore Park. Unfortunately, due to rain and high winds, the match finished up early.

While many attendees used public transport to get to and from the cricket ground, point to point transport was still in demand.

Over the day, compliance across taxis and rideshare was reported as generally good.

  • 1 fine was issued to rideshare drivers for failing to display a retroreflective sign

  • 1 prohibition notice was issued to a driver for having worn tyres on their vehicle

Safety Alert

Noting a prohibition notice was issued to a driver for having worn tyres, and considering the recent wet weather, please see our past Safety Alert on driving with bald tyres. We encourage you to share this with your drivers and networks.

In the Courts

This week, a taxi service provider was convicted for safety offences relating to drivers who were ineligible to drive its taxis. For more details, please refer to the following article: In the courts – Driver eligibility
