In the third week of the new year, our on-street inspectors were out again conducting operations to ensure driver and vehicle compliance and the safety of passenger services.
While some of us were out enjoying a long weekend, our industry, and inspectors, were working hard at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and the Big Bash Cricket in Moore Park, Sydney

Tamworth Country Music Festival
The 53rd Tamworth Country Music Festival took place this year between 17 and 25 January. During their operations, the Commissioner’s regionally based inspectors checked 20 taxis and 47 rideshare vehicles. Overall, compliance was good, with two penalty notices and three improvement notices being issued. One possible unauthorised service provider is also under investigation.

Two improvement notices were issued relating to security camera systems in taxis. In one case, the camera indicator box was faulty, in the other, the camera hard drive was not secure/tamper proof.

One improvement notice was issued relating to a malfunctioning seatbelt – it was not retracting properly.
Big Bash Cricket at Moore Park
On 24 January, on-street inspectors conducted compliance activities at Moore Park during the Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers Big Bash. During the event, Inspectors checked 19 taxis and 28 rideshare vehicles. The level of compliance across the industry was very good with zero breaches identified– howzat!
