Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Preferential Hiring Compliance Outcomes

As part of the Point to Point Transport Commissioner’s Wheelchair Accessible Taxi Preferential Hiring Compliance Policy, ongoing compliance monitoring takes place to ensure wheelchair accessible taxi drivers are giving preference to customers in wheelchairs.

To do this we look at the performance of all wheelchair accessible taxis, identify poor performers and issue notices to identified taxi licence holders requiring them to demonstrate why their taxi licence should not be cancelled.  The Point to Point Transport Commissioner has now cancelled two wheelchair accessible taxi licences who were not giving preference to customers in wheelchairs. 

Ongoing monitoring continues to ensure drivers are giving preference to customers in wheelchairs.
