Changed traffic conditions various areas in Sydney CBD

Changed traffic conditions will be in place from Monday 13 July in various areas of the Sydney CBD, weather permitting. If delayed due to poor weather, work will be carried out from Monday 20 July. This work is being carried out by the City of Sydney Council in response to the Coronavirus outbreak and to complete the pedestrianisation of George Street. These changes will be in place to ensure people can get into and around the city while maintaining physical distancing measures.

Point to point transport drivers and service providers are encouraged to refer to the CBD Preferred Driving Routes map (below), and to plan their routes safely.

The following traffic changes will be in place:

  • Extension of  the existing southbound lane closure in George Street between Bathurst and Campbell Streets to Rawson Place
  • Closure of the northbound lanes in George Street between Ultimo Road and Bathurst Street
  • Closure of Campbell Street at George Street, making it two-way traffic between George and Pitt Streets
  • Closure of the westbound lane in Hay Street, between George and Sussex Streets
  • Upgrade to make Ultimo Road one-way westbound, between George and Quay Streets.
