Mandatory masks extended for one week

Published

To safeguard the community and reduce the risk of further transmission, the temporary COVID-safe measures which were put in place until midnight tonight have been extended by one week for the Greater Sydney region (including Wollongong, the Central Coast and the Blue Mountains). This includes mandatory mask wearing at all times for both drivers and passengers until 12.01am Monday 17 May.

Mandatory mask wearing does not apply to:

  • Children 12 and under
  • Persons with a physical or mental health illness or condition, or disability that makes wearing a fitted face covering unsuitable including, for example, a skin condition, an intellectual disability, autism or trauma.

Tips:

  • Wear a mask at all times while in the vehicle or at a taxi rank
  • Do not travel if unwell
  • Passengers travelling in a taxi should check in using the QR code in the taxi
  • Practise good hygiene
  • Set the air conditioning to external airflow rather than to recirculation, or have windows open where appropriate
  • Customers should sit in the backseat of the vehicle
  • Encourage customers to use contactless payments where possible
  • Customers should handle their own luggage where possible

Whilst not mandatory outside of Greater Sydney, masks are also strongly recommended for passengers and drivers of point to point transport vehicles in other areas of the state.
Vehicle Sanitisation Stations are available at multiple locations throughout the state. This is a complimentary service for all point to point transport vehicles, for up to two sanitisations, per vehicle, per day to help reduce the spread of illness and assist with maintaining driver and passenger safety.

We thank you for your ongoing support and contribution in helping us ensure point to point transport drivers and passengers remain COVIDSafe. We will continue to update you.
