Published

27 January 2025 – 2 Feb 2025

February has certainly started off on a high note with several major events across metro and regional NSW. Our on-street inspectors were out at the 12 Hour Race in Bathurst, the Luke Combs concert in Sydney and the Red Hot Summer Tour in Coffs Harbour, ensuring safety for industry and passengers.

They also conducted their usual compliance activities across the state.

  • 18 Improvement Notices were issued

Luke Combs Concert – Sydney Olympic Park

Global country music superstar Luke Combs played two huge shows on the 31 Jan and the 1 February, at Accor Stadium in Sydney.

Our Inspector’s vehicles were strategically placed in key areas around the precinct using rear vehicle message boards, to advise passengers that taxi drivers must use the meters.

Our inspectors were kept very busy with 276 rideshare and 187 taxi vehicle inspections across the two nights.

  • 29 fines were issued for rideshare drivers failing to display their retroreflective sign.

  • 3 improvement notices were issued relating to security camera systems in a taxi.

  • 1 improvement notice was issued relating to signs, lights and markings on a taxi.

  • 1 fine was issued to a taxi driver for their meter not being clearly visible.

  • 1 fine was issued to a taxi driver for failing to start the meter upon hiring.

  • 1 fine was issued to a rideshare driver for picking up a passenger before a booking was made.

  • 1 improvement notice was issued for a vehicle maintenance issue.

The team at Sydney Olympic Park and NSW Police provided positive feedback stating that our presence had a profound effect on keeping the roads flowing and ensuing passengers using taxis and hire vehicles could do so in a safe manner.
