NSW Government response to point to point transport review announced

Published

Today the NSW Government announced a package of reforms in response to the independent review of the point to point transport industry led by Sue Baker-Finch in 2020. The NSW Government has generally supported all 24 of the independent review’s recommendations.

The Government’s package will be delivered in stages and the industry will see no immediate changes. The safety requirements under the point to point transport law remain the same. Safety is the priority of the Point to Point Transport Commissioner and he will continue to regulate the point to point transport industry.

The Commissioner will continue to ensure that providers of passenger services, holders of taxi licences, owners of taxis and hire vehicles and drivers of those vehicles comply with their safety standards and safety duties through his compliance approach that includes education, regular safety audits, on-street compliance, advisory visits, investigations and prosecutions throughout NSW.
