Targeted compliance blitz: security camera system

Published

One of the Point to Point Transport Commissioner’s key strategic priorities is targeted compliance on identified higher risk areas.  Compliant security camera systems are essential for the safety of point to point drivers and passengers so from Monday, 3 May 2021 to Friday, 7 May 2021 Commission Authorised Officers will be conducting a targeted compliance blitz to ensure security camera systems in rank and hail taxi vehicles are compliant with the point to point transport law.

A vehicle providing a rank and hail taxi service must be fitted with an approved security camera system. The system must meet specifications published by Transport for NSW and be in good working order. Signs are also required on the inside and outside of the vehicle informing people that they may be under video surveillance while in or near the taxi.

During the blitz, Authorised Officers will be issuing fines for vehicles with non-compliant security cameras. A taxi that does not comply with the approved security camera system specifications must not provide unbooked passenger services.
