We’d like to draw your attention to some important information and reminders.

Managing your taxi licence - accessing the Industry Portal through MyServiceNSW

Did you know that you can now add the Taxi Licence Portal to your MyServiceNSW Account?

There are several benefits, including:

  • Simpler, faster and more secure taxi licence applications, as there is no need to upload proof of identity documents.

  • Fewer passwords to remember - log in with your Service NSW details.

  • Simple access to the portal by selecting the Taxi Licence Portal tile in your MyServiceNSW Account.

New and existing users can select Continue with Service NSW on the Taxi Licence Portal and follow the prompts.

For more information and a step-by-step guide to linking the accounts please read our fact sheet which provides instructions and illustrations.

If you have further questions, please call our Industry Contact Centre on 131 727.

Taxi Fare Hotline stickers

As you know, all taxis in NSW must have at least two Taxi Fare Hotline stickers displayed (a minimum of one on the outside and one inside) to give passengers, and prospective passengers, easy access to the Hotline. The stickers have the Hotline phone number. 1800 500 410, and a QR code. Scanning the code with a phone makes calling easy.

Our Compliance team have been issuing notices to service providers in both metropolitan and regional NSW for not displaying stickers – please make sure you are displaying yours correctly.

For information on displaying the stickers please read our fact sheet.

Do you need new, replacement or additional stickers?

Hotline stickers can be easily ordered through the Industry Portal.

Log in to the Industry Portal and use the 'Order Items' button found on the 'Activities' page. Our step by step guide is a helpful resource showing you how to order replacement or additional stickers.

Signage reminder – raised taxi registration number

An important safety standard reminder: All taxis must display the taxi’s registration number, in raised numbers on the vehicle.  The raised registration number must be placed in front of the door’s handle on the exterior of passenger doors.

The included image demonstrates the raised numbers and locations.

You can read more about the required signs, lights and markings for taxis and your safety obligations in our signs, lights and markings fact sheet

Meeting your safety obligations – vehicle maintenance and driver checks

NSW has strong safety laws to ensure the safety of taxi, rideshare and hire vehicle passenger services, and every provider must comply with these safety standards.

All service providers must ensure their vehicles are appropriately registered and safe to be driven on the road, and drivers must clear a series of background checks before they can provide passenger services.

Our Driver Vehicle Dashboard makes it easier for service providers to meet these requirements.

If you have any additional questions or require more information, please call our Industry Contact Centre on 131 727.
